- State AG uses survey to establish unfair practices in telecom case
In this case, AMS worked on behalf of a state Attorney General’s office to analyze practices of a telecommunications services company that provided service to the majority of the state market. The state alleged that the company engaged in certain advertising, solicitation, and customer service practices that were misleading, and that the customer’s understanding of the service purchased was substantially different than the actual service offering. AMS conducted a survey to find out what customers really knew about their service – and equally as important – what they didn’t know. The study also helped the state examine what choices customers would make about various service options if the information provided were complete and clear. The AMS survey provided significant assistance to the AG office in negotiating a settlement with the telecommunications company.
